Sunday Funday: Tubing Down the Delaware

In honor of Nate leaving also for the Forever West, his sister, Amy wanted to do a little Farewell get together for him with a bunch of friends.

A Sunday Funday Adventure of Tubing Down the Delaware was scheduled for last Sunday.  We all met in Frenchtown, NJ.  Did not know it was 2 hours from Newark, we were practically near Allentown!  But we all got there around 1:30pm and started to heaad down the river, probably around 2pm.

There was practically 25+ people in the group we were in, composed of a bunch of Amy's friends from Philly and a bunch of friends of Nate's from Asbury Park, Morristown, and Univ. of Delaware.

The trip was stated to be 3-4 hours on an average day, however, based on my tubing experiences from last 4th of July down the Brandywine, 3-4 hours technically means 5-6 hours!  Including running out of your food, water, and booze half way down your trip!  Such a sad moment.

The trip was really fun, and the water was really nice to float on during the really hot, sunny day.  Surprisingly the river got really deep!  8-9+ feet!  You could sink down and grab some really nice weathered, smooth river stones!  Not that I was noticing this!  Nerd.

We ended around 7:00pm, so tired!  Didn't get back to Delaware until roughly 9:30pm.  Will make a mental note that when planning your weekend, and you want to include a tubing trip, do not plan much of anything after tubing, you're either late to your next event or you have to reschedule other plans!

The group preparing themselves for the longest tubing trip they will ever be on!

Some of my favorite Asbury Park Boys! [L-R: Jay-man, Terri, and SeanyMarsh]

It's always fun to wear the river vegetation as hair.  Meet Darren from Chicago.  Recently moved from the Great Lakes to surf the California waves!

You'll find all types of floatation devices on this trip, including the penguin.

Ready to float!

He thought it would be fun to try and take over my tube...by coming up from the bottom.  Obviously.
Side note and Westward-Ho Update: Will be leaving for New Jersey to pick up the other explorers on Friday morning.  Lightning Jar show and shindig on Saturday then Sunday AM...is the big day we make the journey to those beautiful snow-peaked Teton Mountains!  Gah!

Until next time,
theChristybel
