Ted & the Mint

So I have heard that certain herbs can really have an effect on cats. Some herbs will cause craziness, some cause comfort, some help with fatigue, some help with digestion, and some help to calm them down. We discovered one that makes OUR cat sleepy and calm - MINT.

Saying Goodbye to Bertha

Today was a sad day for Marc and I.
We said "Goodbye" to Bertha.

Marc decided to place it on craigslist.
And someone bought it!

Thank You for a Wonderful 2-years, Bertha!
We will miss you and #VanLife
This is not goodbye to our hope to once again live the #VanLife. We'll be back into again soon! Also, this was terrible timing...we just found out we have to move from Old Ford Road. Our landlord is moving back into the house..and we just lost our moving van! Ahhhh! Terrible timing!

To Be Continued...

Winter Storm Stella

This winter has been very different from last year's winter - there is more snow! After Niko, I thought that spring would be coming upon us...however, that is not the case. Winter Storm Stella closed the Preserve for 2-days giving us about 16+ inches of snow. I worked from home, cuddled the Ted, had a constant fire going, and just waited for the plow to come and shovel me out of the house. I really hope this is the last snow - Pond Keepers is coming up and I really would like to get into the ponds!
The Solar Panels would avalanche snow onto our front doorway...literally snowing me in!

The Many Positions of Ted

This evening as I working on some stuff, I look at the base of the bed, and the furry fluff ball was rustling around constantly...I guess he was trying to get comfortable. Oh, the many positions of Ted the Cat!

Spring Cleaning - The Garage

So Marc and I have been living in this house for about 7-months now. We have made the actual living area of the house pretty much ours. All of our stuff has been placed in their proper places, our artwork decorates our walls, we got a kitty! Included in our lease, we are allowed to use one bay in the garage. Since our landlord lives in the mother-in-law apartment above the garage, much of his extra stuff has been housed in the garage. However, the garage has not really ever seemed ours. There is a whole bunch of his stuff everywhere. So, Marc and I pretty much had enough of the clutter and took it upon ourselves to spruce up the garage. Our landlord stated (when we moved in) that he would clean up the garage. After 7-months of waiting, we decided to just do it all ourselves. We took EVERYTHING out. All of our stuff (pretty much still in our plastic bins), all of his garden equipment, the snowplow, all of the dead and dried firewood, and all his additional junk from the house. It took an hour to get everything out! When everything was cleared, we swept, and placed all of the once cluttered shelves back in the garage (how we wanted them, not to mention making the "sharing" component), and began to reorganize. Did I also mention that the cleared garage echoes when you yelled! crazy! Unfortunately, I did not have before, during, and after photos, but I do have a cleared out picture!

Oh, and also, while the whole cleaning was happening, Tedders caught a vole! A vole! It was definitely traumatized. And we thought this little creature would survive, but once we got it from Ted, we released it, and Ted eventually got it back and well, there is no more vole.

28 & A New Home

Happy 28th ChristyBel!
For my 28th Birthday, we really did not do anything too special - we did most of my celebrating back in Delaware the week before. But, oh yea, we moved into our new apartment! We found this awesome set up through Wendy Toman. We are living in this 2-story house that is incredibly energy-efficient (solar panels, wood stove, etc). It is pretty open with 2-bedrooms and a mother-in-law studio above the garage (which our landlord uses every once in a while). Other than that, the rest of the house is ours to use! Not to mention there is a huge yard and garden on the property. We are also across from a farm where they sell local meat, milk, eggs, cheese, honey, and a CSA! Pretty sweet deal! The whole birthday was filled with moving in and unpacking. It was pretty exhausting, but we still took sometime to celebrate with apple cider donuts and wings! :)
